There are several options you can take advantage of to make accessing Digital Reader easier for all users. We offer rostering with Clever and ClassLink, and authentication (sign in) with Clever, ClassLink, and Google SSO.
When any of these options are enabled, your district will receive a custom landing page URL which can be bookmarked on devices, portals, digital classrooms, and other convenient locations.
To discuss these options, please reach out to the Digital Reader Support Team along with your District/School Admin and relevant IT team member(s) - support@digitalreader.com.
Clever
- Use Sharing by Rules to filter sections to specific grades and/or course subjects (ex: ELA or Homeroom) so that a single section is shared per student, for starters.
- Additional intervention sections can also be added.
- Add custom rules for any additional staff accounts you need to share based on specific titles or schools.
Rostering Teachers, Staff, and District Admin
- By default, all Clever teachers are imported with the "Teacher" role and can only access their assigned sections.
- Clever district admins are rostered with the "District Admin" role and can admin all schools in Digital Reader.
- Non-district admin staff accounts in Clever are rostered with the "School Admin" role by default. We can customize this to default to the "Teacher" role if preferred.
- Teachers with no classroom can be manually added to an existing classroom or a new classroom created in Digital Reader after the sync.
Rostering Students
- When students are imported from Clever, the student is assigned to the sections that are shared with us.
- Students do not see their classrooms, only a student dashboard with their books, assignments, and activities.
ClassLink
- We use the ClassLink rostering API.
- Configure your roster to share ELA or homeroom courses/classes.
- If you have secondary classrooms for intervention, those may be shared as well.
- Classrooms with no student enrollments may not sync.
- Teachers with no classroom can be manually added to an existing classroom or a new classroom created in Digital Reader after the sync.
Google SSO
Have your District IT team confirm that you will be using Google SSO. We will add Sign in with Google to your District Landing Page (a custom URL for your sign in options).
Note for Districts Already Using Digital Reader
If you have existing students in Digital Reader, you will need to be sure each Digital Reader Student Profile has an accurate Student ID before the first sync.
Students can be exported from a current or past term to obtain a spreadsheet of all students with DR IDs. The student info can be edited to match with official IDs or email addresses, then imported again. See: How to Add or Import Students.
