Using Reading Adventures in the Classroom
The latest addition to our innovative collection of digital products is Reading Adventures (currently for levels A-Q only)!
Reading Adventures is a Digital Reader feature that provides students with structure and support during independent reading and center time. This feature provides students with three randomized and system-generated book choices. At least one of the titles will be a new book selected for the student based on their Reading Adventures level.
Students will make the following stops on each Reading Adventures journey: Play the Game*, Watch the Video, Read the Book, and Think about the Story. After completing the Interactive Word Study, the video, and the first reading of the book, students will then move on to a short quiz, where three comprehension questions will help them Think about the Story.
*Please note levels A-I will have two Play stops: one Word Study activity appropriate for their Reading Adventures level and one Learn a Sight Word activity.
There are twelve books at each Reading Adventures level. Have students look for the little blue car icon to identify a Reading Adventures book. Books from the student’s assignments, book bag, and bookshelf may also be rotated in as one of the three reading options. The second day of Reading Adventures, students will need to complete a re-read of the previous book, in order for their Reading Adventures journey to be complete. Have students look for a book with an arrow for the re-read.
