Rostering and Authentication (Sign In) Options

There are several options you can take advantage of to make using the Digital Reader easier for all users. We offer rostering with Clever and ClassLink, and authentication (sign in) with Clever, ClassLink, and Google SSO.

To discuss these options, please reach out to the Digital Reader Support Team along with your District Admin and relevant IT team member(s) - support@digitalreader.com

Clever

Configuring Clever Sharing

  • We recommend sharing by rules rather than by district or by school to allow for more control over who will take up seats on your account.
  • If you are sharing by rules, we recommend filtering sections to specific grades and course subjects so that only a single section is shared per student. We recommend adding a custom rule for any additional staff accounts you need to share based on specific titles or schools.

Rostering Teachers, Staff, and District Admin

  • By default, all Clever teachers are imported with the "Teacher" role and can only access their assigned classrooms.
  • Clever district admins are rostered with the "District Admin" role and can admin all schools in the Digital Reader.
  • Non-district admin staff accounts in Clever are rostered with the "School Admin" role by default, and they will have admin access to any schools that are shared from Clever. We can customize this to default to the "Teacher" role if preferred.

Rostering Students

  • When students are imported from Clever, the student is assigned to all their classrooms that are shared with us.

ClassLink

  • At this time, we don’t support the rostering API, but we do support rostering via SFTP of a OneRoster zip file. For SFTP, we would follow this basic setup: Exporting data with SFTP
  • Our roster import can import multiple sections per student, but it is best to filter the roster you send us to just a homeroom or ELA type section. If you have secondary classrooms such as Intervention, those may be shared as well.

Google SSO

This is simple! Just let us know and have your IT team confirm that you will be using Google SSO and we will add it to your District Landing Page (a custom URL for your log in options).
